My Story: From Drifting to Purposeful Living

Looking back, I realise I spent a large part of my mid-life drifting—from one responsibility to another. On paper, everything looked good: a senior role in a well-regarded organisation, a family, a house… the boxes were all ticked. But inside, I felt a quiet unease. A sense of being lost.

I often asked myself, “Why don’t I feel happy? Why isn’t this enough?”

Time always felt short. I was constantly chasing the next task, the next win, the next break in the storm—but it never seemed to come. Work received the best of me—my hours, my energy, my attention—leaving little left for the rest of my life. I wasn’t thriving. I was just existing.

Occasionally, especially after a holiday, I’d feel a flicker of insight—something needs to change. But as soon as I stepped back into the routine, that flicker faded.

Then came the turning point: I was made redundant.

Instead of spiralling into panic, I saw a door open. I’d already signed up for coach training—originally just a side interest—but it soon became a catalyst for transformation. Because when you train as a coach, and you do it properly, you get to know yourself. And I did.

One phrase hit me hard and stuck:

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”

It was time to stop waiting for life to change for me. I had to take responsibility for creating the life I wanted.

So what was this life I truly desired? I realised that I had never really worked out what was this life that I wanted. Not just what career I wanted, but what was really important to me across my whole life i.e. my health, my family, my friends etc.

I spent time working out my core personal values, connected to a sense of purpose, and shaped a vision for the next chapter of my life. I mapped out what mattered most to me—not what others expected, but what felt true. That clarity changed everything.

Has it all been smooth? Not exactly. Change is uncomfortable, not just for you, but the people around you. People in your life are used to the version of you they’ve always known.

But I wouldn’t go back. Because now, I’m living a life that feels aligned, honest, and meaningful.

I often think of that powerful insight from Bronnie Ware, who spent years caring for people in their final days:

“I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”

That’s why I created the Ignite Your Purpose – Create the Life You Truly Desire programme.

I believe that if you want to create a fulfilling life, you need to know yourself deeply. This programme offers a structured, powerful way to do just that—with clarity, accountability, and support.

Are you ready to create the life you truly desire?
